Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Passover

Ottawa, ON –The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Passover:

“With the setting of the sun this evening, Jewish families across Canada and around the world will gather to celebrate the start of Passover. While sharing food and drinking wine around Seder tables, the story of the Israelites’ Exodus from Egypt will be retold.

“For millennia, their miraculous story of escape from centuries of slavery and, guided by Moses, deliverance to the Promised Land remains an enduring story of hope.

“It also serves as an eternal reminder of G-d’s faithfulness to His people even in their darkest hour. Generations have found strength and inspiration in times of great oppression, encouraged by the knowledge that their subjugation will be overcome and their freedom will be restored.

“As Jewish people come together with family and friends, I send my best wishes to everyone finding comfort and hope this Passover.

Chag Pesach Sameach!”
