Prime Minister Mark Carney, ministers and Liberal MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as the federal party holds its weekly caucus meeting. The prime minister, Ministers Steven MacKinnon (government House leader), Mélanie Joly (industry) and Marc Miller (Canadian identity and culture), as well as MPs Ben Carr and Steven Guilbeault comment on Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau’s English-only condolence message following the deadly plane collision at New York’s LaGuardia airport.

Carney also speaks about the recent auditor general’s report that outlines integrity issues that continue to plague the federal government’s International Student Program.

Minister Joël Lightbound (public works and procurement), MacKinnon, Miller, Guilbeault, Carr and MP Stéphane Lauzon are asked about the PMO not currently having a French speechwriter.

Minister Sean Fraser (justice) responds to calls for his resignation from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre following the AG report on the International Student Program.

Minister Gary Anandasangaree (public safety) and MP James Maloney comment on the Ontario government’s plan to expand Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport. Anandasangaree also speaks about a CBC story that outlines the RCMP’s role in spying on the Indigenous rights movement in the 1970s.

Minister Eleanor Olszewski (emergency management and community resilience) and MP Corey Hogan comment on the memorandum of understanding on energy between the federal government and Alberta and whether the April 1 deadline for a new pipeline deal will be reached.

Minister François-Philippe Champagne (finance), Adam van Koeverden (secretary of state for sport), as well as MPs Salma Zahid, Wade Grant and Peter Fragiskatos face questions on issues ranging from the Ontario government’s plan to expand the HST rebate on new homes and the recent report on Canada’s sports system
