Conservative MPs hold a news conference on Parliament Hill to discuss ‘Brian’s Bill’, a private member’s bill (C-243) that would ensure those convicted of first- and second-degree murder who are denied parole would have to wait five years before applying again. The legislation is named for Brian Ilesic, who was one of three peopled murdered in a 2012 shooting at the University of Alberta.

Speaking with reporters are Kerry Diotte, the Conservative MP for Edmonton Griesbach and sponsor of the bill, and Larry Brock, the party’s justice critic.
