
MPs comment on the future of sport in Canada, NDP leadership race – March 24, 2026
MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons.
Secretary of State (Sport) Adam van Koeverden comments on the final report from the Future of Sport in Canada Commission, which outlines nearly 100 calls to action to address the issues plaguing the country’s sport system.
Justice Minister Sean Fraser, NDP MP Jenny Kwan, Liberal MPs Chris d’Entremont and Anthony Housefather, Conservative MPs Larry Brock and Frank Caputo, as well as former Conservative Minister Stockwell Day are asked about the future of the NDP as the party gets ready to select its new leader this weekend at a convention in Winnipeg.
Day is also asked about the Alberta separatist movement.
Liberal MP Jean-Yves Duclos and Housefather voice their disappointment at Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau for only releasing a condolence message in English following the recent accident at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, which resulted in the death of a pilot and first officer.

Liberal MP Yasir Naqvi responds to questions on measures the federal government could undertake to offset the increasing cost of living.
