MPs comment on Canada’s asylum claims process, Middle East conflict – March 9, 2026

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons.

Conservative MPs Michelle Rempel Garner, Brad Redekopp, Fred Davies, Costas Menegakis and Vincent Ho discuss a party motion that aims to ensure that Iranian regime-linked officials, some who have made asylum claims, are deported from Canada. They also speaks about instances of Persian Canadians being to subjected to transnational repression by Tehran-linked individuals in the country.

Liberal MPs Rob Oliphant, Salma Zahid and Taleeb Noormohamed, as well and NDP MP Jenny Kwan face questions on the Carney government’s shifting position on the joint U.S.-Israel military action against the Iranian regime.

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne responds to questions on the recent meeting he had with his G7 counterparts.
