At a news conference in Ottawa, the Canadian Medical Association and other advocacy groups raise concerns about “dual practice” health care in Alberta. Passed into law in December 2025, the provincial government’s Bill 11 allows some doctors to bill the public system while also charging patients privately for insured services.

Speaking with reporters are Margot Burnell (Canadian Medical Association), Danyaal Raza (Canadian Doctors for Medicare), Braden Manns (University of Calgary), and Jason MacLean (Canadian Health Coalition).
