Premier voyage en Inde : Mark Carney vise à doubler les échanges commerciaux

Le premier ministre Mark Carney amorce une tournée de dix jours en Inde, en Australie et au Japon afin de relancer les relations bilatérales et de jeter les bases d’un accord commercial global. À Mumbai, il doit rencontrer des chefs d’entreprise, avant de s’entretenir à New Delhi avec le premier ministre Narendra Modi. L’objectif premier de ce voyage consiste à attirer de nouveaux investissements tout en diversifiant les marchés d’exportation du Canada et de réduire la dépendance du pays à l’égard des États-Unis.

Pour analyser les enjeux économiques et géopolitiques de cette visite, ainsi que ses répercussions sur la relation canado-indienne, Marc-André Cossette reçoit Catherine Viens, professeure associée à l’Institut d’études internationales de Montréal de l’Université du Québec à Montréal et politologue spécialisée en Inde et dans l’Indo-Pacifique.
