Federal government announces $1.55B for First Nations children – February 26, 2026

Speaking with reporters on Parliament Hill, Indigenous Services Minister Mandy Gull-Masty announces the government is committing $1.55 billion in new funding for its Jordan’s Principle program for the next year. Named in memory of Jordan River Anderson from the Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba, the principle ensures all First Nations children have equitable access to government services.
