Conservatives discuss opposition motion on health benefits for asylum seekers – February 24, 2026

Conservative MPs hold a news conference on Parliament Hill ahead of their opposition motion calling for a review of the Interim Federal Health Program. The program provides short-term health-care coverage for asylum seekers and some resettled refugees.

In attendance are Michelle Rempel Garner, the Conservative critic for immigration, Dan Mazier, the critic for health, and Pierre Paul-Hus, the party’s Quebec lieutenant.
