Canada’s New Defence Strategy: Opportunities and Challenges

This past week the federal government unveiled its new defence industrial strategy. The plan aims to strengthen Canada’s military, invest in advanced technologies, and boost domestic industries. The strategy will guide billions of dollars in defence spending over the next decade, aiming to meet NATO targets while creating jobs across Canada.
Dana O’Born, Chief Strategy Officer at the Council of Canadian Innovators, explains the opportunities and challenges for Canadian tech firms, including drones, satellites, and underwater detection, and what businesses need from government to turn the strategy’s goals into action.
