Alberta Budget 2026 proposes $7.7B investment in physicians – February 23, 2026

Premier Danielle Smith holds a news conference in Edmonton to announce that Alberta’s 2026 budget proposes a $7.7 billion investment in physician funding.

Alberta’s budget 2026 will be presented on February 26.

The premier is joined by Adriana LaGrange (primary and preventative health services minister), Tim Spelliscy (board chair, Covenant Health), and Ed Stelmach (former Alberta premier).
