Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on the Beginning of Ramadan

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on the start of Ramadan:

“Nearly two million Canadian Muslims are setting out on a path of fasting and reflection. For billions around the world, the month of Ramadan is a time defined by prayer and introspection, fellowship and charity.

“For generations, Canadian Muslims have built their lives and businesses here in the True North. As our friends and neighbours, they have made positive contributions at all levels of society – helping strengthen the nation we know and love.

“As Ramadan begins, all Canadians can give thanks to live in a country with a proud tradition of religious freedom: where citizens of all faiths can worship and raise their children as they see fit.

“On behalf of all my colleagues, I want to send my warmest wishes to our incredible Muslim communities from coast to coast to coast.

Ramadan kareem!”
