NDP MLA Melanie Mark says new infrastructure funding a boost for community services

MAGA wing of BC Conservatives has their candidate in Harman Bhangu, says Arora

VICTORIA—Langley-Abbotsford MLA Harman Bhangu enters the BC Conservative contest with a record of spreading MAGA conspiracy theories, defending Donald Trump, and refusing to stand up for the interests of British Columbians.

Bhangu validated Trump’s attacks on the Canadian economy, calling his tariff threats an “opportunity,” and said Trump was “challenging Canada to fix our border security and stop the flow of illegal migration and illegal drugs.” Trump’s claims were false.

When a vote was held to condemn Trump’s unjustified attacks on Canadian sovereignty, Bhangu spoke against the motion and then fled the Legislature to avoid voting.

Prior to being elected, Bhangu posted bizarre MAGA conspiracy theories on social media, including:

He was one of just two BC Conservatives to vote for OneBC’s bill to ban land acknowledgements.

Bhangu is also being sued for defamation by his own union, Teamsters Local 213, after accusing them of nepotism and corruption.

Rohini Arora, B.C. NDP MLA for Burnaby East:

“Harman Bhangu refused to condemn Trump’s tariff attacks on the livelihoods of British Columbians and opposed targeted retaliatory action like pulling red state liquor from store shelves. He has never disavowed the widely-debunked conspiracy theories that he spread about the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. And he stood with Dallas Brodie and Tara Armstrong to vote to ban land acknowledgments. His far-right, pro-Trump ideology puts B.C. jobs and communities at risk.”
