Tarifs contre le Canada : revers pour Donald Trump au Congrès

Dans un revers politique inhabituel pour le président Donald Trump, la Chambre des représentants, pourtant sous contrôle républicain, a voté en faveur d’un retour en arrière sur les tarifs imposés au Canada. Par 219 voix contre 211, les élus ont adopté une résolution présentée par les démocrates visant à annuler la déclaration d’urgence invoquée par l’administration comme fondement juridique de ces mesures commerciales. Matthieu Mabin, correspondant de France 24 à Washington, analyse les enjeux de ce vote, les divisions qu’il révèle au sein du Parti républicain ainsi que les conséquences potentielles pour l’administration américaine.
