MPs comment on RTO for public service, recent jobs report – February 6, 2026

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons.

NDP MP Heather McPherson discusses the federal government’s recent announcement that public sector workers will be expected to return to in-office work for at least four days a week starting in July.

Conservative MP Garnett Genuis gives his thoughts on the recent jobs report that saw the Canadian economy lose 25,000 jobs and the unemployment rate decrease from 6.8 to 6.5 per cent due to less people looking for work.
