Advocates raise concerns about possible cuts to $10-a-day child care program – January 30, 2026

Child care advocates hold a news conference in Ottawa to raise concerns about possible cuts to Canada’s $10-a-day child care system.

Speaking with reporters are Morna Ballantyne (executive director of Child Care Now), Sheila Olan-MacLean (CEO of Compass Early Learning Centre), Janet Amito (Parents for Child Care), Leila Sarangi (Campaign 2000, a national coalition to combat child and family poverty) and Siobhán Vipond (executive vice-president of the Canadian Labour Congress).
