Federal government’s talks with Meta, Poilievre leadership review – January 28, 2026

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the first daily question period as the House of Commons returns for its winter session.

Minister Marc Miller (Canadian identity and culture) facing questions on discussions the federal government is having with Meta regarding the possible restoration of news content to Facebook and Instagram.

Liberal MP Gurbux Saini, as well as Conservative MPs Kelly McCauley, Ben Lobb, Ziad Aboultaif, Bob Zimmer, Jacques Gourde, Luc Berthold and Leslyn Lewis comment on expectations surrounding Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s leadership review, which is set to take place at the party’s convention this weekend in Calgary.
