Ontario and New York State sign nuclear energy deal – December 19, 2025

Ontario Premier Doug Ford and New York Governor Kathy Hochul speak with reporters at an event in Buffalo, N.Y. to announce the signing of an agreement to advance the development of nuclear power and move towards increased decarbonization between their two jurisdictions. They are joined by Ontario Energy Minister Stephen Lecce.

Premier Ford faces questions from reporters on whether the agreement may impact ongoing CUSMA trade talks between the federal government and the Trump administration.
