
KIJHL Power Rankings (Week 13)
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) is pleased to announce its Power Rankings for Week 13.
The Kamloops Storm are No.1 for a third straight week. The Storm doubled up the Golden Rockets 4-2 on Sunday with Luca D’Amore (19) scoring the winner and Brenner Fyfe making 26 saves. Ryan Pedersen had two assists, including on D’Amore’s winner. The Storm are 20-4-1-1 and are first overall in the league, ahead of Kimberley by one point.
The Revelstoke Grizzlies defeated the Castlegar Rebels 5-1. The Grizzlies led 3-0 after the first period with Hunter Fuoco’s first goal being the eventual winner. Austin Seibel made 30 saves and Brennen Coutts scored twice. The Grizzlies are now 18-4-0-2 and are fourth overall in the league.
The Kimberley Dynamiters had a three-game weekend winning all three. Trailing 1-0 and nearing a minute remaining in regulation, Nate Tillmanns (11) tipped a goal by Fernie Ghostriders goalie Leo den Besten to tie it at one. Then with 1:30 remaining in overtime, Nolan Kelly completed the Dynamiters comeback as he deflected a Luke Davies pass over den Besten. Adam Kisilevich stopped 13 of 14 shots. On Saturday against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats, Jaden Rusznak scored a pair of goals (10), including the winner with Kisilevich playing excellent with a 37-save performance. On Sunday, they doubled up the Spokane Braves 6-3 as Brayden Schwartz (16) scored to give the Dynamiters a 4-0 lead and was the eventual winner. Connor Baumbach stopped 19 of 22 shots. Danik Reeves collected three assists in his second game back in the lineup. The Dynamiters are 19-4-2-1 on the season and are second overall.
The Beaver Valley Nitehawks lost their lone game 1-0 to the Grand Forks Border Bruins on Friday. Nitehawks goalie Preston Shumate was solid making 30 saves. The Nitehawks are now 18-6-0 on the season and are sixth overall.
The Fernie Ghostriders earned a weekend split with both their games decided in overtime. The Ghostriders lost 2-1 to the Dynamiters after having a lead. den Besten made 28 saves. Against the Spokane Braves, the Ghostriders scored with 22 seconds remaining in regulation on the power-play to force overtime, then won on Ben Skarsen’s goal 28 seconds into the period. It was his second of the game. den Besten made 24 saves. The Ghostriders are now 13-9-3-2 on the season, sitting eighth overall.
