Après un moment d’hésitation, le gouvernement Carney semble prêt à respecter son entente avec le Bloc québécois pour abolir l’exemption religieuse relative aux propos haineux dans le Code criminel. Cette mesure fait partie d’un amendement qui sera soumis au vote mardi soir devant le comité parlementaire de la Justice. Le chef du Bloc québécois, Yves-François Blanchet, affirme que le gouvernement « fait la chose juste » en se ralliant à la position de son parti.
