Advocacy groups denounce permit delays for Palestinian students – December 9, 2025

At a news conference on Parliament Hill, representatives from several advocacy groups call on the federal government to address study permit delays affecting Palestinian applicants.

Speaking with reporters are Nadia Abu Zahra (professor at the University of Ottawa’s School of International Development and Global Studies), Taha Ghayyur (executive director of Justice for All Canada), Nahla Abdo (professor at Carleton University’s Department of Sociology/Anthropology), Nir Hagigi (representative from Independent Jewish Voices), and Iqra Khalid (MP for Mississauga–Erin Mills).
