“The Old Liberal Rules Based International Order is Gone”: New Security Challenges for Democracies

The United States’ democracy is “at risk,” posing security challenges for democratic partners around the world, says Janice Stein, political scientist and founding director of the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. With China’s power growing, Russia disrupting European security, and with the uncertain trajectory of the U.S., Stein believes democracies must come together to lead a shared security agenda. CPAC’s Michael Serapio spoke with her at this year’s Halifax International Security Forum.
