Former cabinet minister Steven Guilbeault discusses Ottawa-Alberta MOU – December 3, 2025

Ministers and Liberal MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as the federal party holds its weekly caucus meeting.

Steven Guilbeault faces questions about his recent resignation from cabinet over the federal government’s energy agreement with Alberta, which could allow for the construction of a new oil pipeline to the B.C. coast.

Also speaking with reporters are Marc Miller, who took over Guilbeault’s portfolio as minister Canadian identity and culture, Government House Leader Steven MacKinnon, Procurement Minister Joël Lightbound, Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne, Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree, and Northern and Arctic Affairs Minister Rebecca Chartrand, as well as MPs Corey Hogan, Chris Bittle, Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, James Maloney, Doug Eyolfson, Ben Carr, Adam van Koeverden, and Patrick Weiler. They face questions on topics ranging from the government’s hate speech bill (C-9) to the U.S. review of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).
