The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) is pleased to announce its Power Rankings for Week 10.

 

The Revelstoke Grizzlies earned a 5-1 win over the Spokane Braves with Jett Patola scoring twice, including the winner. William Stewart stopped 22 of 23 shots. Revelstoke then hit the road for Princeton and doubled up the Posse 6-3 to earn their second straight win against them. Walker Overwater scored his first two goals for the Grizzlies, including the winner on the power-play. Austin Seibel stopped 32 of 35 shots. They are on a five-game winning streak and 14-4-0-1 overall.

 

The Kamloops Storm had a West Kootenay road trip and collected four points. Starting in Castlegar against the Rebels, David Ander’s 2-0 goal in the second period was the eventual winner. Brenner Fyfe was excellent making 35 saves on 36 shots. Then on Saturday, the Storm visited the defending KIJHL champions – the Grand Forks Border Bruins and earned a 5-3 win. Nicklas Wytrychowski opened the scoring for the Storm 19 seconds into the game and netted his third goal – the eventual winner – with his 12th goal of the season. Brenner Fyfe saved 26 shots.

 

The Beaver Valley Nitehawks swept their East Kootenay road trip – earning victories in Columbia Valley (6-3), Golden (7-3) and Kimberley (2-1 in overtime). Against the Columbia Valley Rockies, Brady Magarrell had two goals and three assists – including setting up the winner by Brady Walker. Landan Uzeloc stopped 31 of 34 shots. Jonas Bourchier scored twice (8), including the winner against the Golden Rockets and Preston Shumate made 28 saves. Walker delivered another winner, this time in overtime against the Kimberley Dynamiters with his 10th goal at 1:28. Karsten Hugenholtz stopped 44 shots, including two in overtime to earn his second Nitehawks win.

 

The Kelowna Chiefs were in the Cariboo for a three-game swing and won two of three. They opened with a 7-5 loss to the Williams Lake Mustangs. The win snapped Kelowna’s three-game win streak. Matthew Balderston led Kelowna with two goals. The Chiefs on Saturday earned a 5-4 overtime victory over Quesnel. Brenden Stirbu scored twice, including the overtime winner. Michael Makowsky made 31 saves. The Chiefs closed out their trip with an 8-3 win over the 100 Mile House Wranglers. Phinneas Bermel’s ninth of the season became the eventual winner. Michael Makowsky34 saves.

 

The Kimberley Dynamiters managed to collect a pair of points. They lost 6-5 to the Merritt Centennials in a shootout. Connor Baumbach stopped 18 of 23 shots, while Nolan Kelly had two goals and four points. The Dynamiters then lost to Beaver Valley 2-1 in overtime. Nolan Kelly scored his 18th goal and Adam Kisilevich made 17 saves.
