PM Mark Carney discusses Canada-UAE trade and investment deal – November 21, 2025

Prime Minister Mark Carney speaks briefly with reporters In Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he was visiting to bolster the Canada-UAE trade and investment relationship.

Carney discusses an investment deal signed between the two countries that aims to secure billions in bilateral investment, and also highlights the launch of negotiations for a comprehensive trade agreement between Canada and the UAE. The prime minister also speaks about a possible billion dollar project aimed at expanding the processing of critical minerals in Canada.

Carney faces questions from reporters about the civil war in Sudan, amid allegations of UAE’s role in fuelling the conflict.
