Should Canada Purchase Gripen Fighter Jets? A Former RCAF Commander Weighs In

The Prime Minister welcomed the King and Queen of Sweden to Ottawa today, as Canada and Sweden launch a new strategic partnership. Canada is now considering a purchase of Saab Gripens, a Swedish fighter jet that came second to the F-35 in an open competition years ago. But Yvan Blondin, a retired lieutenant general who was commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 2012 to 2015, believes Canada should stick with the American F-35s for now.
