TRU lecture explores how entrepreneurs can think — and act — globally

What does it take to grow a business across borders — right from day one? That’s the question at the heart of an upcoming talk by Dr. Salman Kimiagari, a professor in Thompson Rivers University’s (TRU) Bob Gaglardi School of Business and Economics.

Titled International Entrepreneurship: One Part of Global Business, Kimiagari’s lecture highlights how entrepreneurs today are thinking globally from the start — and what it takes to plan, predict and act effectively in an ever-changing international market.

“The challenge for entrepreneurs today is turning that mindset into action — finding the right tools to identify opportunities, forecast demand and decide which markets to enter,” he says.

Kimiagari will introduce a new way of thinking about global opportunity planning. Rather than following a traditional, step-by-step approach to expansion, he proposes a hybrid modeling strategy — one that combines data analysis, forecasting and real-world market insights to create a clear roadmap for international growth.

“This presentation brings a fresh perspective,” he explains. “It’s about connecting the big picture — global strategy and operations — with the entrepreneurial mindset that drives innovation.”

The talk is part of TRU’s Inaugural Professorial Lecture Series, which recognizes faculty members recently promoted to full professor. The series offers an opportunity for the campus and wider community to learn about the groundbreaking research and scholarly journeys of TRU faculty.

Kimiagari’s lecture takes place Thursday, Nov. 27, at 4:30 p.m. in OLARA, on the second floor, in the Collaborative Student Space.

Members of the TRU and Kamloops communities are invited to attend the free public lecture, which offers a chance to meet professors and gain insight into their scholarship, research and teaching.

In-person seating is limited for this free event (refreshments included), so be sure to reserve your spot today. You can also join online to take part virtually.
