KIJHL announces Team of the Week (Week 8)
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce its Team of the Week for the period ending Nov. 9
Forwards:
Bryton Morrow – Princeton Posse
The Ardrossan, Alta., native was an offensive force with a goal and 11 assists in three games. Morrow collected six assists, including setting up the winner in their 10-5 victory over Creston Valley. He was +10 while averaging 18:43 of ice time a game. He’s currently riding a 12-game point streak with 32 points.
Will Bell – Princeton Posse
The Dunmore, Alta., native had a big offensive weekend with his linemates Morrow and Justice Loewen (3GP 8 PTS) with six goals (three power-play goals) and three assists. Bell scored the winner in a 4-3 final against the Fernie Ghostriders thanks to an incredible assist from Loewen. Bell was a +8 while playing an average of 19:52 a game.
Luca D’Amore – Kamloops Storm
The Kamloops product was excellent for his hometown team as he had four goals, including the winner against Sicamous (4-2 final), and three assists in two games. He assisted on the insurance goal against the Osoyoos Coyotes in a 7-1 win. D’Amore was +7 and wasn’t on the ice for any goals against playing an average of 15:57 a game.
Defence:
Jackson Murphy – Kimberley Dynamiters
The Calgary native collected six assists over three games helping the Dynamiters win two of their three games. He was a factor with two assists in their 3-1 win over the Golden Rockets, then collected an assist to begin their comeback against Creston Valley to earn a 5-2 win. He had three assists in their 7-6 loss to the Posse. Murphy was +6 playing an average of 24:12 a game. It’s the second straight week that Murphy is selected to the team.
Evan Murray – Kelowna Chiefs
The Kimberley native helped the Chiefs win both their games on the weekend. Against the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in a 6-3 win, he was +2. Then in a 7-2 win over the Merritt Centennials, Murray scored the winning goal by skating into open space and firing home a wrist shot. He also had three assists. Murray was +7 while playing an average of 15:45 a game.
Goalie:
Ryan Bain – Chase Heat
Following his acquisition from the Columbia Valley Rockies, Bain won his debut start for the Heat with a 41-save performance in a 3-2 decision over the 100 Mile House Wranglers. The Hanley, Sask., native was busy, especially in the third period stopping all 16 shots he faced.
