Alberta Premier Danielle Smith makes an announcement on class sizes in schools – November 7, 2025

Danielle Smith, the premier of Alberta, and Demetrios Nicolaides, the province’s minister of education and child care, make an announcement regarding classroom complexity. They are joined at the news conference in Calgary by Nicole Buchanan, chair of Red Deer Public Schools.

Premier Smith previously vowed to create a task force addressing class size and complexity in schools when she announced back-to-work legislation for the province’s striking teachers.
