Former PBO on the Sustainability of the Budget

The federal budget released Tuesday by the Liberal government has a projected average deficit about $65 billion dollars for each of the next five years. Kevin Page, the first parliamentary budget officer and now president and CEO of the Institute for Fiscal Studies and Democracy at the University of Ottawa, believes important investments had to be made due to weakness in the economy.
