Ministers promise $660M for gender equality programs – October 29, 2025

At a news conference in Ottawa, Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne and Women and Gender Equality Minister Rechie Valdez announce funding from the upcoming federal budget for women and 2SLGBTQI+ programs. Set to be tabled on November 4, Budget 2025 will propose $660.5 million in funding over five years for the Department for Women and Gender Equality.

Also speaking at the event are Mandy Gull-Masty (minister of Indigenous services), Rachel Bendayan (parliamentary secretary to Prime Minister Mark Carney), Tyler Boyce (executive director at the Enchanté Network), and Mitzie Hunter (president and CEO of the Canadian Women’s Foundation)
