Ministers and Liberal MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as the federal party holds its weekly caucus meeting.

Ministers François-Philippe Champagne (finance) and Steven MacKinnon (government House leader), as well as MPs James Maloney, Steeve Lavoie, Corey Hogan, Marcus Powlowski, Ben Carr and Chris Bittle speak about the upcoming federal budget and the possibility that an election could be triggered if the minority Liberal government isn’t able to garner the necessary support for its spending measures.

Ministers Anita Anand (foreign affairs) and Champagne, as well as MPs Charles Sousa, Jonathan Wilkinson, Karina Gould, Maloney, Hogan, Bittle, Lavoie, Powlowski and Carr face questions on the reported tirade by U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra towards Ontario trade representative David Paterson.

Anand is also asked about reports that Canadian rifles are being used by Russian snipers in Ukraine.

Minister Steven Guilbeault (Canadian identity and culture) and Wilkinson discuss the future of federal climate policy.

Minister Eleanor Olszewski (emergency management and community resilience) and Hogan comment on the possibility of Alberta’s proposed new bitumen pipeline to the northwest coast of British Columbia.

MPs Taleeb Noormohamed, Greg Fergus, Anthony Housefather, Mona Fortier and Adam van Koeverden face questions on issues ranging from Alberta’s challenge of federal energy laws to concerns raised by interpreters in the House of Commons.
