Anti-euthanasia group urges against MAiD for mental illness – October 28, 2025

The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition holds a news conference in Ottawa to support the passage of Bill C-218, a private member’s bill that would block the expansion of medical assistance in dying (MAiD) to people suffering solely from mental illness. Conservative MP Tamara Jansen introduced the legislation earlier this year.

Speaking with reporters are the coalition’s president, Gordon Friesen, and its executive director, Alex Schadenberg. Also speaking are family physician Paul Saba and combat veteran Kelsi Sheren.
