Federal budget to expand union training program – October 27, 2025

Secretary of State for Labour John Zerucelli visits Iron Workers Local 721 in Etobicoke, Ont., to highlight measures from the upcoming federal budget. Set to be tabled on November 4, the budget will include $75 million over the next three years to expand the Union Training and Innovation Program.

Also appearing in the news conference are Neil MacDonald (business manager for Iron Workers Local 721), James Maloney (MP for Etobicoke–Lakeshore), and Sean Strickland (executive director of Canada’s Building Trades Unions).
