Are Canadians favorable to trade with Indo-Pacific countries?

Prime Minister Mark Carney shared in his address to the nation yesterday his goal to double the amount of goods exported by Canada to countries outside of the United States. And on Friday he will leave for a trip to Asia, where he’ll attend the meeting of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian nations) and a meeting of APEC ( Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation). But there seems to be little enthusiasm from the Canadian public for seeking trade deals with ASEAN countries, as revealed by an Angus Reid poll. Shachi Kurl, the president of the Angus Reid Institute, helps us understand the causes behind those attitudes.
