Conservatives call on the government to cap its deficit to $42 billion dollars

As the Parliamentary budget officer forecasts a deficit rise of nearly $70 billion dollars, the Conservatives are calling on the government to cap its deficit to $42 billion dollars. Kevin Page, Canada’s first parliamentary budget officer and the CEO of the Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy, disagrees with the Conservative’s demand, saying Canada has the capacity to spend more to grow given the current financial challenges facing the globe.
