Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on National Seniors’ Day

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on National Seniors’ Day:

“Canadian seniors have made our country the great place that it is. They raised families, served as community leaders and are custodians of treasured memories. Our parents and grandparents built this country and spent decades working to make Canada a better place.

“Seniors enrich all our lives in countless ways, inspiring our young people and connecting us to our history and values. National Seniors’ Day began under Stephen Harper to recognize the enduring impact their lifelong contributions have made to our country.

“After a lifetime of service and hard work, seniors have earned a happy retirement, but too many can no longer afford the life they used to. Their fixed incomes have been stretched thin by years of inflation; those who want to continue contributing face punishing taxes.

“Today, Canada’s Conservatives reaffirm our commitment to restore Canada’s promise to put seniors back in control of their lives. A prosperous country where the golden years they worked tirelessly to earn can be enjoyed with comfort and dignity.”
