Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day:

“For years, Canadians from all regions and all walks of life have seen crime and disorder change the face of our communities. Every day, our incredible police and peace officers confront these dangers head-on, putting their lives on the line for the good of us all.

“Sadly, too many of our protectors have made the ultimate sacrifice. Today, we come together as a nation to honour those heroes who never came home.

“We remember upstanding Canadians like RCMP Constable Rick O’Brien, a father of six tragically killed in the line of duty just two years ago.

“As we commemorate him and countless fallen police and peace officers, Conservatives stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our law enforcement professionals.

“We will always fight for them, and for a country where all Canadians can be truly safe and secure.”
