MPs comment on gun buyback program, recognition of state of Palestine – September 22, 2025

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons.

Minister Sean Fraser (justice) and NDP MP Alexandre Boulerice are asked about Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree’s reported comments about the government’s push for the federal gun buyback program being due to political pressure from Quebec. Fraser also comments on the government’s plans to introduce legislation to address gun crime.

Liberal MPs Jean-Yves Duclos, Anthony Housefather and Boulerice also speak about the Carney government’s decision to formally recognize the state of Palestine.

Minister Lena Metlege Diab (immigration) responds to questions about the temporary foreign worker program.
