Liberal Policies Drive Women’s Unemployment

Ottawa, ON – The Liberal government likes to talk about supporting women in the workforce. But new Statistics Canada data tell a different story: Canadian women are losing jobs at an alarming pace.

In July, the number of core-aged women (25–54) receiving Employment Insurance jumped by an alarming 12 per cent in a single month, with 23 per cent more women on EI than a year ago. Women over 55 have been hit hard as well, with a 14 per cent year-over-year increase.

Instead of helping women thrive, the Liberals’ economic and immigration mismanagement is driving layoffs, instability and lost opportunities. Families relying on women’s incomes are being pushed to the brink, and the government’s promises of prosperity have given way to growing uncertainty.

When Canadian women succeed, the entire economy benefits. Yet under this government, women are paying the price for Liberal failure.

Conservatives will hold the Liberals accountable and fight for common-sense policies that stabilize family budgets, protect Canadian jobs and create conditions where women can fully participate and succeed in the workforce.
