Activists discuss Canada’s conditional recognition of Palestinian statehood – September 18, 2025

At a news conference in Ottawa, representatives from a number of civil society groups respond to the federal government’s intention to conditionally recognize the State of Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly.

Speaking with reporters are Tatiana Harker (member of Palestine Vivra), Kelsey Lyseng (registered nurse from Edmonton), Nimâ Machouf (epidemiologist and participant of the Flotilla 1000 Thousands Madleens to Gaza), and Tara Saint James (coordinator of Say Their Names project).
