Swearing-in ceremony for federal ministers – September 16, 2025

At Rideau Hall in Ottawa, Governor General Mary Simon presides over a swearing-in ceremony for members of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cabinet. Dominic LeBlanc adds responsibility for internal trade to his portfolio, which already includes intergovernmental affairs and Canada-U.S. trade. Steven MacKinnon, the government House leader, will also become minister of transport. The changes follow the resignation of Chrystia Freeland from cabinet.
