MPs comment on Chrystia Freeland’s resignation from cabinet, federal budget – September 16, 2025

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons.

Ministers and MPs react to the news that Chrystia Freeland is resigning from federal cabinet and will serve as Canada’s new special representative for the reconstruction of Ukraine

Speaking briefly about this is minister Gary Anandasangaree (public safety), Liberal MPs Sean Casey, Marc Miller, Jean Yves-Duclos, Gurbux Saini, Bill Blair, Leslie Church, Greg Fergus, Rob Oliphant, Ryan Turnbull, Jonathan Wilkinson and Taleeb Noormohamed, Conservative MP Randy Hoback as well as NDP MPs Gord Johns and Jenny Kwan

Minister François-Philippe Champagne (finance) takes questions on the federal budget after announcing that it will be tabled in the House of Commons on November 4th. NDP MP Alexandre Boulerice and Conservative MP Gérard Deltell comment on the upcoming budget.

Minister Patty Hajdu (job and families) responds to questions on issues surrounding the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.

Hajdu, Kwan and Anandasangaree are also asked about Radio Canada’s decision to suspend one of its reporters over antisemitic comments that were made during a broadcast on Monday.
