Industry leaders react to government’s pause on EV Availability Standard – September 16, 2025

Representatives from Canada’s electric mobility sector discuss the federal government’s recent decision to pause and review its Electric Vehicle (EV) Availability Standard, which included sales targets for zero-emission vehicles.

Speaking with reporters in Ottawa are Daniel Breton (president & CEO of Electric Mobility Canada), Travis Allan (president of the Canadian Charging Infrastructure Council), Rachel Doran (executive director of Clean Energy Canada), Matthew Fortier (president and CEO of Accelerate Alliance), Michelle Llambias-Meunier (CEO of Propulsion Québec), Cherith Sinasac (director of standards and government affairs at Electro-Federation Canada), and Merran Smith (president of New Economy Canada).
