Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Labour Day

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Labour Day:

“Canada was built by workers – those who laid the railways, harvested the fields, milled the lumber, mined the resources and built the factories and businesses that shaped our country.

“Today, from trades workers to truckers, nurses to baristas, to the unions who fight for them, Canadian workers still carry our economy on their backs. But after years of punishing higher taxes and inflation, their paycheques don’t go as far as they should.

“Canadians deserve to be in control of their lives and earn what they put in – because it was their hard work that built the country we know and love.

“Conservatives will fight to restore stronger take-home pay, so hard work is rewarded and every Canadian gets a fair shot at a good life in the best country in the world.”
