BC NDP MLA Greene’s Third Annual Pride Walk brings hundreds together in solidarity, celebration

RICHMOND – BC NDP MLA Kelly Greene says more than 500 people gathered in Steveston for the third annual Richmond Pride Walk, an event that continues to grow each year.

“As we see 2SLGBTQIA+ rights coming under attack in other jurisdictions, it’s important to make it clear that hate has no place in Richmond,” says Kelly Greene, MLA for Richmond-Steveston. “Everyone deserves the freedom to love who they love and be their authentic selves, without fear or discrimination. When we show up and celebrate each other like this, we’re creating a community where everyone truly belongs. I was touched by the visible joy of participants and want to thank everyone who had a part in making the Richmond Pride Walk special.”

The Richmond Pride Walk took place on Saturday, July 26, 2025, and was organized by MLA Kelly Greene and her constituency office. The walk celebrates Richmond’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

The event featured remarks from community leaders including:

  • Mathew Yu, local advocate
  • Reverend Lauren Kirkey, faith leader
  • Mack Paul, Musqueam First Nation

Premier David Eby and Anne Kang, MLA for Burnaby Centre and Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, also attended the event.

Over 150 signatures were collected during the event in support of a petition advocating for the installation of a rainbow crosswalk at Bayview Street and No. 1 Road.

Attendance has grown each year since the Richmond Pride Walk began. According to RCMP estimates:

  • 2025: Over 500 people
  • 2024: Approximately 350 people
  • 2023: Approximately 200 people
