Alberta Premier Danielle Smith provides an update on her government’s efforts to create a provincial police service. The new agency would operate independently from the provincial government and would offer municipalities an alternative to the RCMP.

Also speaking at the news conference in Calgary are Mike Ellis (Alberta’s minister of public safety and emergency services), Nolan Dyck (parliamentary secretary for Indigenous and rural policing), Jack Van Rijn (mayor of Coaldale), and Brett Baumgartner (deputy mayor of Hardisty).
