L’Essentiel : Carney et Trump visent un accord commercial d’ici 30 jours – 16 juin 2025

Ottawa et Washington se sont donné 30 jours pour conclure un accord sur le commerce et la sécurité. L’ancien ambassadeur, représentant permanent adjoint à l’ONU et fellow à l’Institut d’études internationales de Montréal, Henri-Paul Normandin, dit à notre animateur Rémi Authier qu’il estime que l’absence d’entente au G7 ne constitue pas un échec pour le gouvernement canadien. Selon lui, « la récolte est quand même relativement bonne » pour le Canada. Il nuance toutefois : « Il faudra évidemment voir sur le fond. »

La cheffe d’état-major de la Défense, la générale Jennie Carignan, affirme à notre émission que la décision d’Ottawa de consacrer 2 % du PIB aux dépenses militaires permettra de « soutenir la fondation de ce dont on a besoin en défense pour bien faire notre travail. » Elle ajoute que « des investissements additionnels vont être requis pour de nouvelles capacités dont nous aurons besoin dans le futur. »

Pablo Rodriguez a été élu samedi chef du Parti libéral du Québec. Nous abordons les défi auxquels il fait face avec Louis Lacroix, correspondant à l’Assemblée nationale pour Cogeco.
