20 h 30 HE : L’Essentiel : Importants dépassements de coûts recensés à Ottawa – 10 juin 2025

La vérificatrice générale du Canada, Karen Hogan, signale dans ses rapports publiés mardi d’importants dépassements de coûts liés à des projets fédéraux. L’un des cas les plus frappants concerne les avions F-35, dont le coût final sera près de 50 % plus élevé que les prévisions initiales — et pourrait encore grimper. Notre animatrice Catherine Lafrance s’entretient avec Karen Hogan pour comprendre les causes d’un tel dérapage budgétaire.

Ce mardi, en réponse à une question d’un journaliste, le juge en chef de la Cour suprême du Canada, Richard Wagner, a commenté les dérives judiciaires observées à l’étranger sur l’administration Trump et son mépris des décisions de justice. Sans nommer de pays, il a exprimé sa préoccupation face aux attaques croissantes contre l’État de droit et l’indépendance des tribunaux à l’échelle mondiale. Nous discutons de ces enjeux avec le juge Wagner.

Certaines invitations du premier ministre Mark Carney à des leaders controversés pour le sommet du G7 ont fait la manchette. Nous analysons les motivations d’Ottawa derrière celles-ci avec l’ancien ambassadeur du Canada en Chine, Guy Saint-Jacques.
