Canada pledge to meet NATO’s defence target: Conservatives want a plan and a spring budget

Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Monday that Canada will hit NATO’s 2% GDP spending target this fiscal year, instead of by 2030. Defence-related spending is set to rise by more than 9 billion dollars this year to nearly 63 billion. Reacting to the announcement, Conservative Shadow Minister for National Defence James Bezan told CPAC’s Andrew Thomson “we need to know the plan and how we get there, and we do expect a budget to support this operational spending.” Watch our interview.
